Variables such as sailcloth weight, film weight, coatings and other factors will have an affect on shapeholding, flesibility and UV resistance.
* Shapeholding: A measure of a sails modulus, or resistance to stretch. Higher modulus = better shapeholding and upwind speed.
** Flexibility: The degree to which flex (bending) affects the structure of a sail. A more flexible sail is able to withstand creasing & flogging better than a stiffer one.
*** UV Resistance: The resistance of a sail to the degrading affects of UV radiation (sunlight).
